Average Mortgage Rates by State
You can also find the same real self reported rates at the states level. You’ll find rates by lenders (credit unions, banks and online lenders) and by credit scores for all main new loan mortgage products.
Survey Methodology
The MFP Mortgage Rates Survey reflects rates collected from homeowners in every state who shopped for a new home mortgage in the last 30 days. The survey is conducted on an ongoing basis among MFP users who request home loan(s) quotes.
When homeowners indicate they have requested one or more quotes, they are invited to share the rates and fees quote(s) they received. They’re also invited to complete a short survey about their comparison and quote experience. Once they finalize a mortgage with a specific lender, they are invited to complete a follow-up survey that captures more detailed feedback about their lender selection, closing experience, satisfaction, and post-closing support. This later survey is part of the MFP Mortgage Lenders Survey
- Survey Scope: Responses collected in the last 30 days from 159,837 homeowners nationwide who recently purchased a home.
- Self-Reported Data: Homeowners reported the mortgage rates they received from lenders; no independent verification beyond user submission (except for entries clearly out of reasonable range).
- Breakdowns: Rates are presented by credit score ranges, lender type, and loan products (30-year fixed, 15-year fixed, ARMs, FHA, VA, etc.).
