If you are over the age of 62 or disabled, you may be eligible to qualify for a housing repair grant.
The Rural Housing Repair and Rehabilitation Loan and Grant Program is federally funded and is for very low-income rural homeowners who reside in their homes and need to make necessary home repairs or renovations.
The funds can be used to repair, renovate or improve safety and health conditions of the home.
– Loans are provided up to $20,000 at a 1% interest rate and must be repaid over a 20 year period.
– Elderly homeowners over the age of 62 may be able to receive a grant up to $7500.00 which does not need to be repaid.
– Grant/Loan combination are available to those who qualify for a total up to $27, 500.
– Rural Development can give approval for a completed application in about 30-60 days.
