The Federal Pell Grant Program is the premier grant program for undergraduate students in the U.S. The Pell Grant is a non-repayable grant and is awarded based on financial need.
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program is available for low income, undergraduate students. There are approximately 4,000 schools that participate in this grant program.
Most schools and colleges offer their own non-repayable grants. This is to help students and their families cover the difference in educational expenses and tuition costs. Some grants are based on academic or financial need or other criteria.
This grant is available to full-time undergraduate students in their 3rd and 4th year who are majoring in math, science, technology, engineering or certain languages. The National Smart Grant can be used in addition to a Federal Pell Grant.
The money you earn with the part-time work and study program is not calculated as income in the following year’s financial aid report, allowing for more financial aid to be given.
