AARP awards scholarships to women who are 40 years old or older who seek to improve their job skills and/or receive training or education to support themselves and their families. Scholarships will be awarded from $500-5000 USD depending on financial need and cost of the training or education program.


To apply you need to fulfill the following requirements:

  • you must be a woman
  • you must be at least 40 years old as of March 31, 2009
  • you have limited financial resources to achieve your educational goals
  • you will be enrolled in either a technical school or an accredited school within 6 months of receiving your scholarshipPriority is given to women who are returning to the workforce after a long absence, women who are underemployed and have limited career growth potential and to women who are raising another family member’s child/children such as grandmothers.Deadline: Application deadline for 2011 is March 31.
