Pell Grants are federally funded need-based grants. Pell grants do not have to be repaid. They are available to students who have not yet earned their bachelor degree or for students in certain post-baccalaureate programs. The maximum amount a student can receive from a Pell Grant varies on your financial needs, the cost of attending your school and whether you are a full time or part-time student. If you qualify for a Pell Grant, your school may apply the grant to pay for your college tuition, give it to you directly, or combine both methods. Schools also have to distribute the full grant amount in a minimum of 2 payments (usually one for each term).

How to apply:

Visit your school’s financial aid office or apply online at the FAFSA web site.
